Graeme Shirley

Founder of Group Health and Life, Graeme has been involved in many facets of the insurance industry, spanning some 25 years. With such a long career – which includes directorship of one of New Zealand’s first health insurers – Graeme has been part of many changes in this maturing industry.

Today Graeme works along-side Ben offering business advice only a person with his experience could offer, when he isn’t on the golf course or looking after his grandsons.

Benjamin Shirley

Graeme’s son, joined Group Health and Life in 2005, having spent 10 years overseas. Ben eventually took the reins in 2008.

His previous roles all involved customer care and delivery of service. Working in Japan (a country which wrote the book on impeccable service) set Ben up well to return and offer the same kind of care and service to clients back in NZ.

Ben’s work life is balanced by his partner Azu, and sons, Junsei and Eiji. If there’s any time left you will either see him zig zagging up a golf course or sitting quietly in a boat with a rod in his hand.

Vicky Ogle

Executive Assistant & Health Administrator

GHL’s key administrator and Executive Assistant to Ben. Vicky came to GHL in 2009 with four years’ experience in the insurance industry. In her previous role as a technical claims consultant, Vicky developed important process and client management skills; skills which she has strengthened during her time at GHL.

Although Vicky loves her work she also has a counter balance, her husband Corey and her two sons Zac and Max. When she isn’t at home… well she’s at work of course

Rachel Sinden

Marketing Coordinator & Risk Administrator

Rachel joined us earlier this year to help look after our personal risk clients – those with life insurance, trauma, TPD and/or income protection policies. A large part of Rachel’s time is also spent on marketing and the development of our Employee Wellness programs. With Rachel’s background in marketing and business management degree we think she’s a pretty good fit for this diverse (and growing) role. Let’s just say, she’ll never get bored!

Rachel spends most of her free time with her partner, Michael, and cat, Hazel (it’s roughly a 20/80 split).
